KRAKEN CAKE 2013

WHAT IS THIS HOW DO I MAKE

Mix 1 box yellow cake mix, 1/2 c melted butter, 1 pkg vanilla pudding, 4 eggs, 1/4 c water, and 1/2 c dark rum in a bowl. Grease those little pan thingies, stick chopped pecans in the bottom if you want. put the batter in there. Bake for 40~60m at 350 (depending on how your oven is), take out and let cool and jab with a toothpick.
For the glaze: 1/2c rum, 1/2 c sugar, 1/2 c melted butter, 1/4c water. Bring sugar, butter, and water to a boil, stirring frequently. add the rum and watch out cause it will go FOOMSH. when it’s all blended down let it cool just slightly and then pour over the cakes you so ruthlessly stabbed earlier. Put em in the fridge to cool and the rummy sugar stuff turns into candy around the pecans. You won’t use all the glaze, so I guess dump the rest or freeze it, idk.
I used to put grated ginger in in the batter but the flavor died out in baking and just left hairy bits, so I tried putting crushed pineapple in one of the cakes and it turned out ok but a little bitter.
I usually bring one cake to work, mail half of the other to somebody, and keep the other half here but these were for a pot luck.
OH AND: Eat sparingly, it’s super rich and too much’ll git ya drunk
